Pestering Kids!

2011-04-08 10:56 am

My kids haven’t stopped going on about getting a trampoline. One of our neighbours has just bought one, which hasn’t helped the situation and they can see it out of out window!

My partner and I decided to have a look into getting one and see how expensive they are and we were quite surprised. I found one for £117.99 which is an 8ft trampoline with enclosures. I thought it was going to be at least a couple of hundred for one.

I wouldn’t want to get one without a safety net otherwise I would constantly be worrying if the kids are okay. This particular trampoline also has a 10-year warranty, which is also really good.

The kids are going to be very lucky if we do get it. Easter holidays start on Monday so at least it might keep them quiet for most of that!

My Holiday Rant

2011-03-29 3:44 pm

My life is just not fun at the moment. I am working long hours and weekends in order for me to save to go travelling.
Now I know you are probably thinking – ‘Well at the end of the day at least you will be jetting off for a once in a lifetime trip!’ – but the work is never ending! It is really hard to see myself sitting on the plane and getting into holiday and travelling mode.

What has been more frustrating is looking for flights! They have rocketed in prices and are complicated with stopovers and also agreeing with my friend when the best time to go.

It’s nearly as fun as when I had to compare gas and electricity prices for my new house which resulted in a three day stand off!

I just need to take a deep breath and get on with it! I know!

Okay – rant over! Now let’s focus on this picture:

When there are coupons that entitle a person to buy one and get two items, it is good idea to purchase two items that are priced at similar rates. LONDON HIRE BIKE SCHEME LACK OF HELMETS

2010-09-24 6:00 pm

I agree with the road safety charity Brake calls today for helmets to be provided with the London Bike Hire scheme. To me it seems silly for them not be on busy London roads.
According to the BBC website, 750,00 journeys have been made so far on the hire bikes and TFL claim: accidents are low. However, will it take a fatal accident for TFL to provide helmets? Or a law suit against them?
A spokeswoman for Brake told the BBC: We recommend all adult cyclists wear one, as well as children, whether you are cycling on or off road. Schemes like the cycle hire project are great but some kind of helmet is surely imperative when users have to travel on such busy roads. €œ
Not wearing a helmet and having an accident can lead to serious brain injuries. One of my family friends had a bike accident on a main road a few years ago. Luckily he was wearing his helmet, which in fact shattered on impact with the kerb. He was fine as the helmet took the impact.
TFL say there is no legal requirement for a cyclist to wear a helmet. Maybe this is where we should start then. There is nothing more infuriating than driving behind a bike on a road when the cyclist is not wearing a helmet.
