Border Collies are not dogs who spend much time in dog beds! Extremely athletic, energetic, even acrobatic, Border Collies are wonderful herders and enjoy great success in dog sports. Border Collies are believed to be the most intelligent of all the dog breeds. A Border Collie in January 2011 was reported to have learnt a staggering 1,022 words and act in accordance with the words.

The Border Collie is a British breed of dog and the name for the breed most probably originated somewhere along the Scottish English border. At the end of the 19th century we find our first mentions of ‘Collie’ breed of dog, though the word ‘collie’ itself is much older with roots in Lowland Scots dialects. The breed requires a great deal of mental stimulation and physical exercise, making them rather demanding pets. Border collies are known to develop neurotic tendencies in households that do not satisfy their need for exercise. Border Collies have been known to dig holes or chew holes in walls out of pure boredom!
